Ashburnham is a town located in Worcester County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 5,546.

1 History

Ashburnham was first settled in 1736 and was officially incorporated in 1765.

2 Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 106.2 km² (41.0 mi²). 100.2 km² (38.7 mi²) of it is land and 6.0 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.68% water.

3 Demographics

As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 5,546 people, 1,929 households, and 1,541 families residing in the town. The population density is 55.4/km² (143.4/mi²). There are 2,204 housing units at an average density of 22.0/km² (57.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.66% White, 0.22% African American, 0.04% Native American, 0.61% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.31% from other racesThe United States Census Bureau uses the federal government's definitions of race when performing a census.
