Home > Aristotelian theory of gravity

The Aristotelian theory of gravity was that heavier bodies fall faster than lighter ones. This was brought about by the observations that anybody could make for themselves.

The confusion is due to the fact that an heavier body is less affected by the resistance of air than a lighter one of the same shape.

Aristotle's theory was superceeded by the work of Galileo Galilei.
