Sir Archibald Alison ( December 29, 1792 - May 23, 1867) was an English historian born at Kenley, Shropshire, England.

His principle work is the History of Europe, which was once very popular and translated into many languages, including Arabic and Hindostee.

He died near Glasgow, Scotland at the age of seventy-four.
