Antonio Pigafetta was a tourist who paid large sums of money to accompany Ferdinand Magellan and his crew around the world. He kept an accurate journal of the trip, which later assisted him in translating the foreign Phillipine languauge . Pigafetta survived the voyage, and his journal is the source for most of what we know about the voyage.
