α-methyl-tryptamine, also known as AMT or IT-290, is a synthetic drug of the tryptamine family. First developed as an antidepressant, in the 1960s it was produced commercially for this purpose in the Soviet Union under the trade name "Indopan". Like many other tryptamines, at sufficient dosages it is a psychedelic hallucinogenic drug. Its effects can last for up to 18 hours. It also acts as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor and a stimulant, the latter property possibly being related to similarities in chemical structure to amphetamine. On 4 April 2003, an emergency United States DEAUnited States. heroin when inspected by the DEA. The Drug Enforcement Administration DEA is a United States Department of Justice law enforcement agency tasked with suppressing the sale of recreational drugs by enforcing the Controlled Substances Act of 1 order resulted in AMT being placed, along with 5-MeO-DIPT5-MeO-DiPT is a tryptamine also known as "Foxy Methoxy" due to its supposed aphrodisiac-like effects, although it is primarily used recreationally as a psychedelic. On April 4, 2003, the United States DEA added both 5-MeO-DiPT and AMT to Schedule I of the, on Schedule I of the Controlled Substances ActTheir Controlled Substances Act CSA , Title II of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970, is the legal foundation of the United States government's fight against the abuse of drugs and other substances. This law is a consolidation.

Neurotransmitters may be either excitatory ( EPSPs) or inhibitory ( IPSPs). That is, they may foster the initiation of a nerve i. It acts by mimicking the effects of serotonin at the 5-HT2 receptor and by interfering with neurotransmitter reuptake and degradation mechanisms.
