Alliston, Ontario is an Ontario community just about 90 kilometers from Toronto, and around 30 to 35 km SW of Barrie. It is located in New Tecumseth in Simcoe County. The heart of the community is lined up on what is Highway 89. It was founded in 1874 by William Fletcher and is now (officially) part of the greater Town of New Tecumseth. Its population as of 2001 is 9,679. Earl Rowe Provincial Park is west of Alliston; it contains a trailer park.

A large Honda car manfacturing plant is a major area industry, located in the southwest of Alliston, along Tottenham Road (Simcoe Road 10); under 1 km south of Highway 89 . The plant had a minor fire in the late 1990s. The town originally made a name for itself as a potato-growing area, which is still a viable industry in the town and is celebrated by the annual Potato Festival.

A famous citzien of Alliston is Sir Frederick Banting the inventor of insulin.
