Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt ( 1877- May 7, 1915) was the third son of Cornelius Vanderbilt II of the wealthy Vanderbilt family. As his eldest brother William Henry Vanderbilt II had died and their father had disinherited Cornelius Vanderbilt III, Alfred received the largest share of Cornelius Vanderbilt II's estate when he died in 1899, though it was also divided among their sisters and youngest son Reginald Claypoole Vanderbilt.

He died on board the RMS Lusitania, having offered his lifejacket to save a woman when the ship was sinking. He left sons William Henry Vanderbilt (sometimes called William Henry Vanderbilt III) (1901-81), later Governor of Rhode Island, Alfred G. Vanderbilt Jr. (1912-1999), later a noted owner of racehorses including Native Dancer, and George Washington Vanderbilt (III) (1914-1961), and two daughters.
