Alcohol 120% and its brother Alcohol 52% are disc writing and management software created by Alcohol Soft of the Fubra Group . Similar to Nero Burning ROM, it can write CD and DVDs, burn image files and so on. What makes it differs most with Nero is that it could use the latest technology to constantly develop and improve to add in new features allowing it to maintain its performance and stability. It is also able to store users most used CDs as images on their computer and then call them up inside the computer, thus running them at 200X the speed of some CD drives when they need them without requiring the CD itself from up to 31 virtual CD or DVD drives.

Just like Nero, it could also make a backup of a CD on to another CD either using the CD itself or just using the image users have made of it. It makes perfect 1:1 back-ups of CDs, and burn more than one CD or DVD at the same time, even from different sources. It also has high drive compatibility which makes Alcohol compatible with more than 99% of drives available. It also bypass the latest "unbreakable" copy prevention schemes, and supports the highest number of possible image file types including - MDS, CCD, BIN, CUE , ISO, CDI , BWT, BWI, BWS , BWA & many more.

Perhaps it is a mark of this software's popularity and effectivness in defeating copy prevention schemes that versions of it are blacklisted by certain software manufacturers.
