Home > AMSN

AMSN is a MSN Messenger clone. Its main objective is to assist users who are new to the Linux operating system keep in contact with those who use the Microsoft program, available only on Windows and Macintosh, by creating a similar program. To achieve this objective, AMSN attempts to emulate the look and feel of MSN Messenger, and supports many of its features.

However, AMSN has some advantages over the Microsoft MSN Messenger client. For example, it supports alarms, it is very customizable, users are able to see others who have removed them from their contact list, and users are able to open many profiles at once.

There are plans for the future of AMSN. The plugin in amsn has already been implemented in version 0.95. A Jabber protocol support may be supported in the future. One of the future objectives is to get Jabber integrated in a MSN-like client, to make the migration from MSN to Jabber easier.

AMSN is not available only for Linux, but it is also available for any UNIX variant, Macintosh and Windows, as well as any other platform where Tcl/ Tk 8.3 or higher is supported.
