Yu-Gi-Oh! GXYu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX ( GX) is an anime spinoff of the original Yu-Gi-Oh franchise. GX starts out with the lead character Judai Yuki ( Yuki Judai getting a card, Hane Kuribo (Hane Kuriboh), from Yugi Mutou, the renowned Duel Monsters champion. Yu-Gi- (airing in 2005 in North AmericaNorth America is the third largest continent in area and the fourth ranked in population. It is bounded on the north by the Arctic Ocean, on the east by the North Atlantic Ocean, on the south by the Caribbean Sea, and on the west by the North Pacific Ocea)

In addition, 4Kids has an agreement with the American Kennel ClubThe American Kennel Club (or AKC is one of the largest registries of purebred dog pedigrees in the United States. Beyond maintaining its pedigree registry, it also promotes events for purebred dogs, including the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Sh and sells Cabbage Patch KidsThe Cabbage Patch Kids were dolls produced from 1983- 1989 by Coleco. They had large, round vinyl heads and soft fabric bodies. The gimmick of the dolls was their uniqueness. No two were exactly alike; each doll had a different eye color, facial features, toys.

2 Criticism

Many anime fans in the US are highly critical of 4Kids because of its policy of extensive AmericanizationAmericanization is the term used for the influence the United States of America has on the culture of other countries, substituting local culture with something of an American culture. It is often used in a negative context. One of the principal reasons f of the anime titles it licences. On one hand, such alteration alters the series from what they originally were, and some feel that it defaces the original work and demeans the original author. On the other hand, 4Kids tends to licence only titles targeted to preteens, and is modifying the titles to appeal to the same demographic in the US - leaving the title as is would limit its access in the US, as well as potentially raising the ire of parent groups.

However, in order to combat the complaints, 4Kids has allowed FUNimation, their DVD distributor, to release unedited versions of Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh! on DVD as a test (similar to how DiC allowed Pioneer and ADV to release unedited versions of Sailor Moon and Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac)). If the unedited releases do well, 4Kids may expand them to its entire lineup.
