1000BASE-CX is an obsolete standard for 1GB Ethernet connections over short distances (maximum of 25m per segment) using copper cable (balanced shielded twisted pair). It was succeeded by 1000BASE-T.

There are also Fiber optic variants of this standard: 1000BASE-SX and 1000BASE-LX
